We found early morning birding to be fantastic on Mount Kinabalu, Borneo. For a couple of hours at sunrise, waves of birds overwhelmed us and it was difficult to know where to look first. Then all would become quiet and the flocks would vanish. The downside was the lack of light due to the deep fog that often seemed to embrace the mountain at dawn. This image was taken on such a morning. Not only did this glorious Indigo Flycatcher land close to the lens, but he posed in complete stillness and allowed us the low light shot.
