Macquarie Island, Tasmania
We were on a trip to the Ross Sea in Antarctica and stopped at Macquarie Island. There was a King Penguin colony fairly close to our zodiak landing spot. We were told where the limit was for distance from the penguins. I noticed this chick in the middle of the group and positioned byself for a relatively clear shot, respecting the boundary line. I observe the chick for about 20 minutes and took numerous shots. I waited for the parent to lower its head and was able to get this shot. Unfortunately there were other penguins in the frame. I was sending them mental messages to move, but they didn't quite move enough.
