For some reason, birds like this little blue heron can be very skittish in New Jersey. While rounding a wildlife refuge island in my kayak, I noticed this one which appeared very tranquil. Perhaps it was a Floridian heron visiting the Jersey Shore. Or, perhaps it was the tall grass that isolated me from the bird. While I must admit all of that grass was a challenge to my camera's focus system, I was glad to get this somewhat ethereal looking shot of the bird in its natural surroundings.
