Sunset Overlook, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado
My very first trip to the USA began with a circuit of Colorado. I'd read about the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, but had no idea just how impressive it was. For me, the guy sitting precariously at the very edge of the abyss, staring at the setting sun, symbolised our transience in such an ancient place; but also our ability to appreciate the time and scale of the natural world.
