Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle, WA
Natural scene, no digital effects! The Northern Trail exhibit at Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo includes this below-ground and below-water level viewing area, where grizzlies can be seen at touching distance swimming and catching live fish, above and below water in a landscaped pond. The bear, just emerging from a dive to face the afternoon sun, is the only "real" subject in the photo; all the others, with the exceptions of the child at lower left and the hand above his head, are reflections on the plexiglass produced by the sunlight outside and my camera's flash bounced off the window at an oblique angle. Are there some partial images or reflections of the fish the bear was trying to catch?
