Peace Valley, Tehachapi Mountains, Los Angeles County, California
We heard reports of an amazing 50 year bloom at Gorman off Interstate 5 about an hour and one half north of Los Angeles. I have been driving by this area for 40 years and had never seen anything like it. Looking across the interstate from the hills of Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area we could see a beautiful palette of color 1000' high by 1.2 miles wide that was 100% wildflowers. I have been photographing wildflowers for a coffee table book and have never experience a bloom like this. Interstate 5 and the San Andreas fault run left to right below this photo.
film scanned and adjustments to color, contrast, brightness and sharpness to return to original experience.
