Marco Island, Florida
It was late at night and the air shook with the force of the thunder. This storm was coming in off the Atlantic ocean and, lacking a tripod, I set my camera on the balcony railing of the hotel room and set the exposure to 15 seconds, the zoom to infinity, crossed my fingers and prayed. This one was the best out of two or three of the relatively focused lightning photos I took that night. For some reason, there were still people on the beach with flashlights as this storm came over land.
