my yard, Cohoes, NY (suburban upstate NY)
I saw this beautiful moth on the side of my house one evening, while taking my dog out to "potty" late one June evening. I photographed the moth (which I looked up online, and it is an Io moth) on my house, and then gently placed my finger near it. It climbed onto my finger, allowing me this amazingly privileged moment of interacting with and appreciating the natural world that surrounds my suburban home. I was able to photograph the special moment, and then the moth flew off into the night.
This photo was slightly cropped, and minor corrections made to contrast and brightness.
