My organic veggie garden, my yard in Cohoes, NY
I have a small, organic vegetable garden. I don't use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, make my own rich compost, and I have planted lots of flowers to attract natural pollinators. Last summer I planted sunflowers around the perimeter of the garden to enjoy their beauty, and provide songbirds with sunflower seed after the growing season ended. Seeing this bee on the sunflower, I decided to use my macro setting to get a close-up of this much-appreciated bee hard at work. I am focusing a lot these days on macro-photography to better appreciate the little miracles taking place in my own back yard.
