my yard, Cohoes, NY (suburban upstate NY)
The winter of 2011-12 was very mild in upstate NY, and my butterfly bush did not die back much at all, and that summer it grew tall and full, and covered with blossoms that attracted bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. My mother and I would sit on the patio swing and watch these fascinating little creatures for hours. Appreciating the pollinating magic of a variety of bees (which I intentionally try to attract to my yard to pollinate my small organic vegetable garden), I ventured quite close to get these macro close-ups of the busy little bee.
Cropping, and minor adjustments to brightness, contrast, sharpness, and color saturation.
