Socorro Islands, Mexico
I was on a ten-day scuba-diving trip to the Socorro Islands, 200 miles south of Cabo San Lucas. We were about to go from our liveaboard dive ship to the Zodiacs for a dive when one of the crew saw a lot of birds circling and diving about 100 yards away - a good sign that there was a baitball present. We left the scuba gear and quickly motored there with just snorkel gear and cameras. Dozens of silky sharks and enormous tuna were circling the baitball and charging in for a meal. I took this photo just as a shark punched into the baitball.
The image was initially processed in Adobe Lightroom for standard tonal adjustments, and then coverted to black and white using Nik Silver Efex Pro software in Adobe Photoshop. The upload file was created with Adobe Lightroom with mild output sharpening.
