Southern Africa, Botswana, Okavango Delta, Khwai River
A major goal of our safari was to see wild dogs. We caught a brief glimpse of a few members this pack the prior evening, but there was no time for a proper photograph. These African wild dogs had settled in for a mid-day nap in the shade, but 100 yards inside the posted property line of a private lodge. After waiting over an hour for the private lodge guest vehicles to leave for lunch, our guide skillfully negotiated permission to drive the 100 yards into the posted area and we were blessed with close viewing and photographing of these most rare and most endangered mammals.
