Pickering Beach, Delaware
This spring I visited the shores of Delaware Bay to photograph the annual Atlantic Horseshoe Crab spawning and associated shorebird activity. Around the new and full moons in late May and early June the spawning peaks, and millions of shorebirds time their migration to feed on the eggs they lay. This is a mixed flock seen at Pickering Beach. There were many thousands of birds this day, at low tide after the peak spawning.
