Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens (NPS), Washington DC
Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in Northeast DC is the only National Park dedicated entirely to aquatic plants and habitats. It features dozens of acres of ponds filled with a variety of waterlily and lotus plants, and it is an amazing photo destination in mid-summer when everything is blooming. I was drawn to the way the bee's shadow was being cast on the petal of this American Lotus flower (Nelumbo lutea) as it came in to feed on the lotus nectar.
