Pickering Beach, Delaware
This spring I visited the shores of Delaware Bay to photograph the annual Atlantic Horseshoe Crab spawning ritual and the corresponding migratory bird activity. The spawning is at its peak during the high tides of the full at the end of May, so I timed my visit to correspond with the lunar cycle. Here the full moon is rising over a calm Delaware Bay just after sunset, the opening act to the coming high tide and massive gathering of Atlantic Horseshoe Crabs.
