Loggerhead Seaturtle
Photographer: Jeffrey Haines
Location: Riviera Beach Florida
Newly hatched sea turtles are born into dangerous world. They must evade a gauntlet of predators the moment they emerge from the nest, swim through the surf zone and then survive in the open ocean. Human activity has made survival for the sea turtle even harder. This photo shows how some humans are working to improve the odds for these little beings by giving them a helping hand past the dangerous surf zone to open waters.
