Snow Dogs At Moon Rise, Svalbard
Photographer: Karim Sahai
Location: Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway
Story:
From November 14 to January 29, the sun never rises in the High Arctic archipelago of Svalbard. It's the Polar Night. During this time of darkness, a full moon will rise slowly and remain just barely over the horizon for a few hours, before it sets again. A polar night full moon will casts a surreal glow onto an icy landscape, and provides unique photographic opportunities.
