Dewdrop Spiders (Argyrodes nephilae)- female & male
Photographer: JOHN SERRAO
Location: Deand, FL
Story:
While photographing the huge golden silk spiders in central Florida, I noticed many extremely small but silvery-shiny spiders in their orb webs. These "dewdrop spiders" are kleptoparasites ("parasitic thief's") that don't build their own webs but instead hide outside the big webs of orb-weavers to steal their unattended, wrapped-up insects. Here is a female (top) and male.
