Stalking African Leopard
Photographer: Sebastian Kennerknecht
Location: Lope National Park, Gabon
Fire Ant (Solenopsis sp) bites are believed to be the culprit of the cloudy eyes of this male African Leopard (Panthera pardus). Living in the rainforests of Lope National Park in Gabon is no easy task. Though the bites do impact their vision, it does not seem to completely hamper them from hunting successfully. This photograph is taken with a camera trap allowing an intimate view of the leopard stalking through the night. Due to the wide angle lens, the leopard appears to come right out of the image.
