Albino Ash Tree
Photographer: Barry Banks
Location: Smith-Crisler State Nature Preserve, Henry Cty, IN
I came across this white Ash tree and photographed it not knowing there is such a thing as albino plants. My research revealed they existed, and that since the missing component is chlorophyll, they live only as long as they receive nourishment from the seed's Endosperm. So not only are they rare genetically, they are very short lived. I returned two weeks later and found no trace of it.
