Painted Stork Colony
Photographer: Manas Khan
Location: Bangalore, India
Story:
This photo was captured in the Ranganathittu bird sanctuary, in Mysore, India. These storks come here in large numbers to breed on the trees close to the large lake. This is the colony they setup on the tree branches. I wanted to capture a special moment and was waiting in a small boat on the lake. The moment came when a male stork flew in and engaged in courtship display with its beak striking against the tree branch. This added enough drama to the otherwise quiet scenario and made an interesting frame for me.
