Ocean Shores, WA
In 2012, I'd read that snowy owls had migrated south and into some of the shore communities in western Washington. Living in the Seattle area, I'd decided to make certain that I would be there to photograph them, should they return in 2013. And, return they did! My husband and I made an overnight trip to the small community of Ocean Shores. I was more than a little nervous. Even though they'd already been spotted in December, we weren't able to get there till the beginning of January. We had to hike a mile or so onto a narrow peninsula of land, lugging equipment and wearing heavy, restrictive clothing. But, the results were well worth it. My only regret? Not having a lens length that would get me in even closer! They were spectacular.
