Coden, AL (near Dauphin Island, AL)
It was the first time I'd ever been to Dauphin Island and I snapped photo after photo of this golden pre-sunset. I stayed for an hour and a half, in awe of the view before, during, and after the sun had set--as Brown Pelicans and Double-Crested Cormorants came and went from atop this tide beacon. This particular Brown Pelican pair (one preening his non-waterproof plumage) were among the birds who seemed unimpressed with Nature's variant light show. Apparently, it wasn't their first Gulf Coast Alabama sunset.

Photo cropped & straightened(note: I straightened photo by the horizon--the tide beacon is naturally slanted to the left in the water, which is about 50 feet from shore.)
