Cooper's Hawk
Photographer: Robert Glotzhober
Location: My backyard
This hawk grabbed a starling near my feeders, then bounced off the window where i was reading. It was momentarily stunned, giving me time to grab my camera. It flew up to a nearby tree, but had left the starling behind. It would fly toward the dead starling, then veer off as I clicked the shutter. It give me several shots, as it landed in two different trees after each of perhaps half-dozen swoops in toward the starling. It must have seen me move a little each time it swooped. Finally it left the starling and flew off. This shot caught the alert tension of the hawk wanting to grab its prey.
