Black-bellied Whistling Ducks
Photographer: Tara Tanaka
Location: My backyard cypress swamp
Story:
This pair of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks arrived on May 9th, but somehow missed getting dibs on the big box we made just for them. They spent a lot of time on this smaller box, waiting for the hen Wood Duck's eggs to hatch. When they finally did, we replaced this box with a larger one and enlarged the entrance hole to Whistling Duck size. Digiscoped with the camera set on manual focus and all focusing done with the scope.
Digital Alterations:
Color adjustment in Camera Raw, noise reduction, sharpening; only slightly cropped
Camera Information: Digiscoped using a Panasonic DMC-GH4 with the 20mm/1.7 lens, mounted on a Swarovski STX85 spotting scope with the DCB II adapter and Rail II; Manfrotto 502 head and RRS TVC-33 legs with leveling base.
