Yearling White Tailed Buck
Photographer: Michele Thielke
Location: Eau Claire, WI
Story:
I was in my backyard filling the bird feeders one afternoon when I had the feeling someone was watching me. I looked up and this young guy was standing there watching me. I slowly backed up to the house and got my camera. He continued further into my backyard and so I started snapping photos. He spent nearly 40 minutes back there, eating out of the bird feeders and drinking from our homemade stream. He certainly wasn't bothered by me being out there! We live in a rather large city and right next to a very busy interstate freeway. So when I saw him I was extremely excited and very happily surprised. It is hard to tell from this photo but he was still shedding his spots.
Digital Alterations:
I tweaked the contrast and the exposure a bit. I also cropped it.
