There She Blows
Photographer: N Wain-Lowe
Location: South Africa
A Southern Right Whale exhales through a V shaped gusher sending mist and vapour through 2 blow holes at the top of its head up to 5 metre high . The white skin growths on the top of the head looking like barnacles are callosities and help identify different whales . This was taken in Walker Bay , Hermanus where the whales come to breed and give birth from June to September every year.
