Long-Billed Curlews have the longest bill of any bird in North America, and the second longest in the world. They use it to probe the sand, poking down into the long holes of sand crabs until the sensitive bulb on the end of their bill feels the crab. Then they snap the bill shut and bring up their prey for a crab lunch.
