Squirrel monkey and grasshopper
Photographer: Susan Marshall
Location: Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Story:
I took a series of photos of this squirrel monkey (locally called a titi monkey) eating a very large grasshopper. Here the grasshopper appears to be asking for mercy, but it was eaten anyway. When I first saw the large red wings flapping, I thought it might be a bird because of the size. I was on a walk by myself when a troupe of about 30 titi monkeys appeared.
