Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
In the past, I have tried my best to get a photograph of the Augur Buzzard because I think they're so beautiful, but each time I try, I am left with frustration as they fly quickly away. So I was very pleased this particular morning when this gorgeous guy stayed on his perch, it was a rock close to the ground, while we took notice of him. Then he flew and pounced on some kind of small prey in the field of yellow flowers. He was not successful, but I was as he returned to his rock perch. Augur Buzzard's are an endangered species in some parts of Africa.
