near Fairbanks, Alaska
Each year on the Summer Solstice, my church in Fairbanks made a pilgrimage to a high, wild place north of town called Eagle Summit. There we did a Eucharist in full view of the midnight sun in that beautiful place. For me, going to Eagle Summit is like going back in time to prehistory. It just has that feeling. The rarest wildflowers grow there, and you never know what you might encounter weather-wise. On the solstice, you might find anything from sunny to snow.
