Get Involved
Although population issues can seem overwhelming, they are not insurmountable. Common-sense solutions are at hand.
International family planning provides families with the information they need to make responsible decisions for the future of their family. If voluntary family planning were universally accessible, the earth’s population would likely stabilize at 7.5 billion by 2050. Without universal access, however, the UN estimates that the global population will hit 8.9 billion by 2050 and 10.5 billion by 2150.
Despite their proven success in helping families make decisions that both benefit their quality of life and reduce pressure on wildlife habitat, funding for international family planning programs has steadily declined over the past decade. Increased funding and support for voluntary international family planning and related development programs, such as clean water and sanitation as well as girls’ education, is critical to achieving success for both wildlife conservation and human development.
