Red Desert Virtual Tour: Great Divide Basin and Adobe Town

Located in south central Wyoming, the 2.5 million acre Great Divide Basin is an area of sand dunes and alkali flats. There is no river outlet from the basin to either the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans.

Adobe Town is a high desert with a long, low ridge of oddly shaped sandstone. Some formations look like Pueblo dwellings, others look like the Sphinx or Chartres. Native dwellers include the mountain plover and ferruginous hawks, sage grouse and prairie dogs.
