States and Regional Programs to Combat Global Warming
While federal lawmakers consider national policy to reduce global warming pollution, states and regional efforts are underway across the nation to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions in their state.
The National Wildlife Federation works closely with staff in its Regional Natural Resource Centers to advance both national and regional efforts to combat global warming. At this time, NWF focuses primarily on two regional efforts:
The Western Climate Initiative is a collaborative effort between seven western states and three Canadian provinces to develop regional strategies to reduce global warming pollution.
The Midwest Governor's Greenhouse Gas Accord is a group of six Midwestern states and one Canadian province that have agreed to reduce global warming pollution in their region.
Chesapeake Bay - NWF produced a report with recommendations for state legislators in this region.
