All Access LIVE! Washington, D.C.

In January 2020, a collection of the National Wildlife Federation’s donors, friends, and leaders gathered in Washington, D.C. amid our nation’s looming wildlife crisis. Wildlife advocates answered our call to action, serving as motivators for change on Capitol Hill.

The group met with Federation experts to learn more about this crisis, efforts that can be enacted to help halt wildlife’s downward spiral, and how the Federation is proactively working across all levels of government to ensure policies are addressing these wildlife issues. Armed with immense passion, and a deep understanding of legislative priorities aimed at improving the outlook for wildlife species across our great nation, our group headed to Capitol Hill to advocate to their members of Congress.

Attendees participated in over 35 meetings with members of Congress and their staff, indicating their support for the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, a piece of legislation currently making its way through Congress. It is considered the most powerful legislative tool, in generations, to address our nation’s wildlife crisis.

These meetings demonstrated that individuals’ voices are powerful and that our group of committed conservationists are being heard.

As a direct result of the conversations hosted with elected officials during our Wildlife Advocacy Day, seven new Representatives signed on as cosponsors of the bill! This brought our total cosponsors to 174. Our goal is to have 200 cosponsors by the end of March. We are extremely close because of so many collective efforts!

What Is the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act?

The Federation is dedicated to ensuring the passage of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act because we see this bold legislation as a once in a generation opportunity to invest in wildlife recovery efforts at a time when we are on the precipice of mass collapse.

This bill will guarantee nearly $1.4 billion in dedicated annual funding for proactive, on-the-ground conservation efforts in every state and territory of the U.S., and on tribal lands.

Our All Access LIVE! guests secured new support from seven Members of Congress after one-to-one meetings during our Wildlife Advocacy Day. Thank you to the following U.S. Representatives for meeting with our attendees and pledging support as a cosponsor!
