The event was held to educate the public about the many aspects of everyday life that are impacted by weather. The event was attended by thousands of people, including 2,200 students from area schools. As a community service, several special courses will be offered by DSLCC next summer in response to demand and interest in renewable energy and responsible stewardship of the environment, including solar energy systems and wind turbines for homeowners. Pictured are DSLCC Adjunct Instructor Doug Jones (left) and a student trying his hand at generating enough power to light two bulbs on the DSLCC display. Jones then demonstrated how solar panels could produce the same result with much less work. Call (540) 863-2870 for more information about upcoming DSLCC courses.
