Washington, DC – Today, Bob Harper was named executive publisher for publications at the National Wildlife Federation. Bob comes to NWF from Wildlife Education Ltd., where he was the president and CEO for over eight years.
“I could not be more excited to bring on Bob Harper to lead the National Wildlife Federation’s publications team. Bob is among the very top wildlife publishers in the world and we are thrilled for him to lead our efforts to grow our award-winning Ranger Rick®, Ranger Rick Jr.®, and National Wildlife magazines and help connect all Americans with wildlife,” said Collin O’Mara, president and chief executive officer of the National Wildlife Federation.
Bob has had a longstanding career in educational publishing. While at Cricket Magazine group, he debuted seven periodicals — bringing the number of their total periodicals from only two up to nine total. He also launched two magazines at Zoobooks — Zootles and Zoobies, started the first interactive web magazine for LeapFrog for the LeapPad, and created over 50 learning products for young people at Kindermusik combining reading, music and movement materials.
In addition to managing NWF’s National Wildlife® magazine, Bob will be overseeing the development and implementation of a new business strategy for both of NWF’s flagship children’s magazines, Ranger Rick® and Ranger Rick Jr.®. Ranger Rick recently unveiled a new look and will be marking its 50th anniversary in 2017. National Wildlife, Ranger Rick and Ranger Rick Jr. have a combined circulation of over one million and are available in print and digital apps. One of the first priorities Bob will take on will be the launch of the new Ranger Rick Cub, for kids 0-4 years old, in September 2017.
