'This is a Major Victory for the Health of the Great Lakes and Ensuring that Our Communities, Wildlife and Economy are Protected'
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Circuit Court Judge James Jamo’s decision to rule in Attorney General Dana Nessel’s favor and issue a temporary restraining order requiring the immediate shut down of Line 5 is a “major victory” for the Great Lakes and the people, wildlife, and communities that depend upon them.
“This is a major victory for the health of the Great Lakes and ensuring that our communities, wildlife and economy are protected from a pipeline that is long past its useful life and should have never been in this location,” said Mike Shriberg, Great Lakes regional executive director for the National Wildlife Federation. “The National Wildlife Federation is thankful for the steadfast leadership of Attorney General Dana Nessel and we call on Governor Whitmer to use her authority to fulfill her duty to permanently remove this risk from our waters.”
