Crabtree’s Nomination Underscores White House Commitment to Climate, Clean Energy Solutions

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The nomination of Brad Crabtree as Assistant Secretary for the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management will bring valuable expertise to the Biden Administration and help achieve the nation’s ambitious climate and energy goals. The National Wildlife Federation welcomed Crabtree’s nomination and said it underscored the Administration’s commitment to combatting the climate crisis.

“Staving off the worst impacts of climate change requires ingenuity, dedication and a collaborative spirit — and those are exactly the qualities Brad brings to the table,” said Shannon Heyck-Williams, senior director of climate and energy policy at the National Wildlife Federation. “In his years of service leading efforts to provide policy support for carbon capture and storage, fostering deployment of carbon management infrastructure, and developing blueprints for energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, Brad has applied his significant expertise to the climate challenge, and wildlife and people benefit from his great work. We are committed to working with the Biden administration to help the United States achieve our emissions reduction goals and we know Brad will be an invaluable asset in this fight.”

Crabtree comes from the Great Plains Institute where he has worked as a vice president since 2002. He also currently serves as co-director of the Carbon Capture Coalition, a partnership of energy, industrial and technology companies, labor unions, and environmental, energy and agricultural organizations. He lives with his wife and daughter in North Dakota.
