White House, Congress Need to Build on Ideas Underpinning ‘Make America Beautiful Again’ Order
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The "Make America Beautiful Again" executive order offers the president and Congress an opportunity to recommit to wildlife conservation, conserving and restoring public lands, improving America’s air and water quality, reclaim and remediate past harms, and address the long-term and enduring effects of environmental injustices.
"The ‘Make America Beautiful Again’ Executive Order captures the collaborative spirit of American conservation, bringing together people from all backgrounds and generations to enhance our shared outdoor heritage,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “It rightly recognizes that to tackle the full scope of challenges before us — from recovering America’s wildlife to restoring our waterways, forests, grasslands, and wetlands — requires durable solutions that are collaborative, voluntary, and incentive-based. We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to provide States, Tribes, and private landowners with critical conservation tools necessary and to enhance the capacity of federal agencies, so we can achieve this vision and rally the nation around a common agenda for conservation in the 21st century."
