Now Accepting Applications for Program Partners Nov. 15 - Dec. 15!

NWF’s Trees for Wildlife program provides reimbursement grants for native tree seedlings that are sourced locally by awardees. We are now accepting applications for tree giveaway or planting projects that will take place between spring/summer of 2025. At this time, we are only able to support native tree seedling reimbursement for our State Affiliates, NWF Regional Centers, and existing partners of the National Wildlife Federation, including those participating in the following programs: Community Wildlife Habitat™, Mayors’ Monarch Pledge, Schoolyard Habitats®, EcoSchools U.S., and EcoLeaders programs. If this applies to you, please reach out to a member of our team at Trees@nwf.org and someone will get back to you with the application for free/subsidized native tree seedlings.

Applying for Free or Subsidized Native Tree Seedlings

The National Wildlife Federation provides reimbursement for free or subsidized native tree seedlings to approved partners who in turn plant them through local restoration projects or community tree giveaway events. Tree giveaway events typically involve distributing seedlings to individuals that will plant the trees and care for them at home.

National Wildlife Federation partners must have a plan to care for the trees after planting. Partners include National Wildlife Federation affiliates, EcoSchools U.S., Schoolyard Habitats®, and Community Wildlife Habitat™ program participants. Over the last decade, the National Wildlife Federation and its partners have brought communities together to plant and care for more than 560,000 native trees which provide community benefits, connect children with nature, and create wildlife habitat.
