Steve Woodruff, Senior Policy and Communications Manager for the National Wildlife Federation’s Northern Rockies & Prairies Regional Center-Missoula Office, manages the Idaho monument campaign. Before joining NWF, Steve was a strategic communications consultant providing advice and support to the NWF and dozens of conservation organizations throughout the region. Steve was the editorial page editor of the Missoulian newspaper for 20 years. Steve’s also been an adjunct professor at the University of Montana School of Journalism. He previously worked as a reporter at the Missoulian, specializing in coverage of natural resources and environmental issues.

Before joining the Missoulian, Steve worked as a reporter at the Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic and Bend (Ore.) Bulletin. Steve is co-author of “Montana Wilderness: Discovering the Heritage” and a contributor to two anthologies, most recently “Science Next: Innovation for the Common Good from the Center for American Progress.” Woodruff is a 1978 graduate of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University.
