Maura Wood is National Wildlife Federation's Sr. Program Manager for Coastal Louisiana Restoration.

She has worked in environmental organizing and advocacy in Louisiana for over ten years, most recently for the Sierra Club. Throughout her environmental career, Ms. Wood has worked with environmental, labor, and faith groups and individuals to create public demand for environmental protection. She has collaborated with volunteers and other groups to educate the public and hold decision makers accountable by organizing public rallies, forums and panel discussions, writing and releasing reports, meeting with decision makers, providing hands-on tours and experiences, and ensuring media coverage. She has worked with volunteers on a variety of environmental issues, including a successful campaign in Baton Rouge to protect wetlands and neighborhoods from a destructive traffic loop proposal, and a campaign to protect Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin that celebrated the purchase of 50,000 acres of land in the Basin for public access.

Ms. Wood is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a Master of Science in Oceanography and Coastal Science from Louisiana State University.
