Watershed Objectives

  • Deepen student learning by incorporating a cross-curricular approach to addressing this pathway, including math, the language arts, the social studies, technology, engineering, and the arts.
  • Develop student understanding of the water cycle including its processes and function within the earth system.
  • Through conservation awareness, students explore how the availability of clean water affects the quality of life for people and wildlife, locally and globally.
  • Investigate local water quality over time, through a variety of field investigations, to ensure the health of both aquatic and land species, who depend on healthy ecosystems for survival.
  • Research and understand the importance the local watershed plays in the community and in local ecosystems.
  • Research local, regional, and state organizations whose goals align with watershed issues in your community, and organize a program/project to raise awareness, gain support for your work, and helps solve critical watershed issues.
