Alcoa Foundation furthers its mission by supporting programs that create sustainable value for the communities where Alcoa operates, providing grants that contribute to environmental excellence around the world, particularly in the areas of biodiversity conservation and climate change research. LEGO Community Fund U.S.

The mission of the LEGO Community Fund U.S. is to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow to reach their potential by supporting programs that benefit children in the area of Learning through Play. Through generous support of the LEGO Community Fund U.S., the National Wildlife Federation created the Monarch Mission program, which has resulted in the development of over 50 Monarch Recovery Gardens and outdoor play and learning sites in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. A PreK – 12 comprehensive curriculum supports the development of the gardens and provides a variety of field experiences for learning and creative play.

PSEG Foundation

Since 2013, the PSEG Foundation has been a major funder of the New Jersey Eco-Schools USA program, a partnership between the National Wildlife Federation and our New Jersey affiliate, New Jersey Audubon. PSEG’s partnership with Eco-Schools fits seamlessly with their corporate responsibility priorities, which include collaborating with organizations to promote environmental stewardship, sustainability, and high-quality STEM educational opportunities. Thanks to PSEG’s support, the New Jersey Eco-Schools USA program has grown substantially and currently engages more than 270 schools by providing direct support and professional development for teachers and administrators.

Amgen

Amgen, a human therapeutics company, is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and to environmental sustainability. The company has established forward-thinking programs to ensure environmental compliance, with programs that target conservation of energy and resources, sustainable building designs, waste reduction, recycling, and the use of recycled or renewed products. Both regulatory agencies and local communities where Amgen operates have recognized the company’s environmental performance. Amgen is a sponsor of the Eco-Schools USA program, enabling outreach to schools in the Seattle, Washington, area.

International Partnerships

Foundation for Environmental Education

Eco-Schools is an international program started in 1994 by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) with support from the European Commission. It was identified by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) as a model initiative for Education for Sustainable Development in 2003. Currently 69 countries around the world participate in the program.

Global Environmental Education Programs

The National Wildlife Federation acts as an advisor to the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP), a global initiative comprised of environmental education policy makers, providers, and practitioners who represent government and/or non governmental sectors in countries throughout the world. We work together, under the leadership of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency, and the North American Association for Environmental Education, to create a vibrant learning network to build capacity in member countries to strengthen and institutionalize environmental education, focusing on policy, professional development, education, and best practices.

The GLOBE Program

The National Wildlife Federation's Eco-Schools USA program partners with The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program to integrate school sustainability and Earth systems observations, data collection, and action to protect and conserve wildlife and wild places. The GLOBE Program is an interagency project sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation, with support from NOAA and the Department of State, and implemented by a cooperative agreement with University Corporation of Atmospheric Research (UCAR).
