Eco-Schools USA and Delaware Valley Green Building Council: Helping to Create a More Sustainable State!
The Delaware Pathways to Green Schools Program, supported by the partnership between the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility (DE SEU) and the Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), is an ongoing program designed to help schools reduce their energy costs and to foster the growth of sustainability initiatives in Delaware’s Schools.
Now in its second year, the DE Pathways program has partnered with Eco-Schools USA to support the twelve schools—public, private, and charter—from across the state that were accepted to participate. Qualified schools receive a free comprehensive building energy audit performed by the University of Delaware’s Industrial Assessment Center and assistance with energy benchmarking in the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
Program participants are provided with stipends to support their student-led Eco-Action Team, mentorship from the DVGBC’s Delaware Branch volunteers, and eligibility to apply for the DE Pathways Annual Mini-Grant in the fall.
