Q. Why did the name of the event change?

A. The National Wildlife Federation changed the name to the Great American Campout to encourage people of all ages, all expert levels and geographic regions to get out there and camp all summer long!

Q. How do I put out a campfire?

A. The proper way is to dump water on the ashes, stir the ashes and dump more water to completely put out the fire.

Q. What are some types of camping I can try?

A. Camping in your backyard with a tent, under the stars in a public park, in an RV or car, in a cabin or even “glamping”.
