"Hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts urge the Bureau of Land Management and Environmental Protection Agency to move forward with these common-sense, achievable rules."
The Obama administration has announced steps to reduce climate disrupting methane pollution and waste from oil and gas production on public and private lands. The rules would cut methane emissions from oil and gas production by up to 45 percent by 2025 from 2012 levels.
Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, said today:
"With methane pollution disrupting our climate 86 times more than carbon pollution, improving methane capture is a key piece of the Obama administration’s plan to protect wildlife and our natural resources from climate impacts. It will also safeguard wildlife from harmful local pollution like ozone, and ensure valuable resources on public lands aren’t wasted. Hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts urge the Bureau of Land Management and Environmental Protection Agency to move forward with these common-sense, achievable rules that curb methane waste and encourage responsible development of our public lands."
