President Trump Disbands Federal Advisory Committee on Climate Change

The Trump Administration disbanded a federal advisory committee on climate change in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence of climate change

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Sunday, The Trump Administration disbanded a federal advisory committee on climate change in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence that climate change is already affecting Americans and wildlife species all across the country.

In response to the decision, Collin O’Mara, president and chief executive officer of the National Wildlife Federation said:

"Just as you can’t stop a runaway train by removing the speedometer, you can’t slow climate impacts by ignoring the experts. The National Climate Assessment is a critically important – and Congressionally mandated – research report that the public and private sectors use to prepare for extreme weather, larger wildfires, hotter temperatures, sea level rise, and other impacts. Disbanding expert panels only makes our nation and our governments, businesses, universities, local leaders, and everyday Americans less prepared for impacts that are increasingly affecting communities and wildlife across the nation.”
