Nominee Andrew Wheeler ‘Unwilling to Fulfill the EPA Mission’

Washington, DC — The National Wildlife Federation expresses grave concerns about Andrew Wheeler’s ability to effectively lead the Environmental Protection Agency and advance its critical mission, as the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works advanced his nomination to the full U.S. Senate.

“By refusing to acknowledge the public health and environmental consequences of his recent decisions to rollback critical protections from the neurotoxin mercury, water pollution, toxic chemicals, and climate pollution, Andrew Wheeler is clearly demonstrating an unwillingness to fulfill the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “The American people deserve an EPA Administrator that will put our health and welfare first.”
